Highlights of the Trek |
|
This trek takes you through the gentle
environment of the Annapurna Region to
the harsher beauty of the Sagamartha
(Everest) Region. In the Annapurna
region you will trek through the Pokhara
Valley with its panoramic views of
Machhapuchhare and the Annapurna massif,
the picturesque Gurung villages of the
hills and the rhododendron forested
ridge lines that provide stunning
vantage points for views of the highest
peaks.
The views of the Himalaya from the high
point of this section, Panchase Peak
(2540m) are among Nepal's best. You will
then spend two days rafting down the
Seti River. This is a gentle river by
rafting standards but offers some
exciting rapid sections and a very
scenic journey with interesting views of
village life along the way.
You will camp for two nights on the
banks of the river.Chitwan National Park
offers you the opportunity of seeing
some of Nepal's wildlife. While in
Chitwan you will be busily involved in a
number of activities, such as elephant
rides through the park, walks on the
many trails with Park Nature Guides,
talks on elephants and demonstrations of
elephant training.
The Sagamartha section of the trek takes
you into one of the most spectacular
regions of Nepal where the Sherpa
culture thrives amongst the highest
peaks in the world. The Sagamartha
massif as seen from Thangboche is a
sight you will never forget, and the
hospitality of these tough mountain
people will remain with you for a long
time. This is the traditional trek to
view Sagamartha, following the historic
trail that has been used by the mountain
people as their "highway" for hundreds
and hundreds of years. The flight to
Lukla affords some spectacular views of
the mountains as you approach the
airstrip which was constructed by Sir
Edmund Hillary. Included in this part of
the trek is a visit to the Sir Edmund
Hillary hospital at Khunde and his
"School in the Clouds" in Khumjung.
