Pass)

Highlights of the Trek |
|
This trek starts from a high vantage
point at the township of Hille. For a
few kilometers the trail follows a new
road being built by the Nepali Army
before turning back on to the original
trail and the commencement of a long and
steep descent to the floor of the valley
and the Arun River. There are some
beautiful views of the Mt. Makalu ranges
as you descend. The trail is a very busy
transportation route for the villages
and major centers such as Khadbari, so
you will see a continuous stream of
porters carrying every conceivable item
a town could need.
After Salpa Pass, the trek will take you
through some impressive Rhododendron
forest and villages of the Rai, Brahman,
Chetri and other 'caste' common to this
area

and the giant Buddhist Stupa at Bodnath are absolute
musts. Our staff can help you with arrangements or
provide a guide and/or transport should you wish, or
you can head off armed with a map and let the day
unfold. Also available (for an additional charge) is
the opportunity to try your hand at rock-climbing
with experienced crew. |
