Mustang (Upper) Trek

Program Code : CH10

 Highlights of the Trek

Mustang (the Walled Forbidden Kingdom), lies in the rain shadow of the Himalaya and is perhaps one of the last enclave of undefiled Tibetan culture. Forbidden and isolated from the rest of the world, it was able to evolve its own distinctive culture and tradition which is so rich and unique. Lo-Manthang, the capital, is a walled city ruled by a religious king. untouched by modern civilization, life in Mustang goes on as it has for centuries at a unhurried pace. A trek into the Kingdom of Mustang is an unforgettable experience. This is a restricted area trek and only fully equipped groups organised through an agency are permitted to do the trek. The group must be accompanied by a Government Liaison Officer.

Grade : Camping
These treks will involve some high altitude activity and the occasional pass-crossing with walks of up to 9 hours per day and altitudes not exceeding 6000 metres. Be aware of the physical and mental needs of this type of trek. You will need to be fit and the preparations for the moderate trek apply here too. Level of fitness is unrelated to altitude sickness and you cannot be sure that you will not suffer some mild symptoms. Slow and steady is the key to enjoyment.
